The four jobs people ask for

Roofline only, single story

The most common FishHawk job. Commercial-grade C9 bulbs, cut to fit your roof.

Roofline, two story

More labor and more lift equipment. Peaks and dormers add to it.

Roofline plus trees and landscape

Wrapped palms and oaks are what actually stops traffic on your street.

Permanent architectural lighting

Installed once, app controlled, and it does Christmas, game day and the Fourth of July.

What moves the price

  • Linear feet of roofline, the single biggest factor
  • One story versus two, because height means lift equipment and more crew time
  • Peaks, dormers and gables, which take far longer than a straight run
  • How many trees and palms you want wrapped
  • How early you book. October pricing and December pricing are not the same thing

No price on this page. Every roof is different, so they measure yours and quote it free.

Five questions before anyone gets on your roof

  1. Can I see your certificate of general liability insurance?

Ask for the certificate itself, sent from their agent with your name on it, not a photo of a card. A real company sends it the same day. Someone who stalls is telling you something.

  2. Do you carry workers compensation on the crew?

This is the one that matters when a ladder goes sideways in your driveway. If the person on your roof is uninsured and gets hurt, the claim has a way of finding the property owner. Ask your own agent what your policy would do. Most people have never made that five-minute call.

  3. Is the business licensed and registered in Florida?

Hanging lights on hooks is not licensed electrical work, but anything touching your wiring, adding a circuit or modifying a fixture is. You can look up any Florida business yourself at sunbiz.org in thirty seconds.

  4. Are the lights custom cut to my roof, and do you supply them?

This is the difference you see from the street. A professional install uses commercial-grade C9 strands cut to your exact rooflines with the sockets evenly spaced, so there is no bunched extra strand at the corner and no dark gap at the peak. Store strands come in fixed lengths and it shows on every run.

  5. Who takes them down, and what happens if a section goes dark in December?

Get takedown, in-season repairs and off-season storage named in writing in the same price. The cheap quote is usually cheap because one of those three is missing, and you find out which one in January.

Questions people ask

When should I book Christmas lights in FishHawk?

Book in October. Installers in Hillsborough County fill their December calendar by early November, and the two weeks before Thanksgiving are the crunch. If you are reading this in December, call anyway, but expect a wait.

How much does professional Christmas light installation cost in FishHawk?

It depends almost entirely on linear feet of roofline, whether the house is one story or two, and how many trees you want wrapped. A straight single-story roofline is the cheapest job on the board and a two-story with wrapped palms is several times that. We deliberately do not publish a price here, because a number off the internet is not a quote. The installer measures your house and prices it for free.

Why should I not just hire the cheapest quote?

Because the low quote is low for a reason, and it is almost always one of three: no general liability insurance, no workers compensation on the crew, or takedown and storage quietly left out. Ask for all three in writing before you compare numbers. Once you do, most of the gap disappears.

Does the price include taking the lights down?

With a full-service installer, yes. Design, lights, install, in-season maintenance, January takedown and storage are one seasonal price. That is the main difference between hiring a professional and buying strands at a big-box store.

Do I keep the lights?

On a seasonal install, no. The installer supplies commercial-grade product and takes it back, which is why it looks the same every year instead of degrading in a garage. Permanent architectural lighting is the option where the product stays on the house.
